Russia will do everything possible to prevent a military strike on Iran – Deputy PM

Deputy Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has voiced certainty that Russia will bend every effort to prevent an armed conflict around Iran.

 

He said that aggravation of the situation around the Islamic Republic would result in a regional disaster.

 

The United States is using sanctions in a bid to make Iran give up its nuclear programme, which the West believes is military in character.

 

Tehran claims for its part that its nuclear research is pursuing exclusively peaceful purposes. Iran has threatened with shutting the Strait of Hormuz if sanctions are slapped in circumvention of the United Nations.

 

The European authorities are going to take up a ban on Iranian oil imports during the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting that’s due on the 23rd of this month.

 

Any strikes on Iran inadmissible – Russian Foreign Ministry 

 

Russia sees any military strikes on Iran as inadmissible on the assumption that this could only serve to aggravate the situation, Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told a news conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
