“We agreed to build up joint efforts in the struggle against extremism, terrorism and counteraction to drugs,” he said. “Moreover, most of these cases originated in Afghanistan,” he said.

“Afghanistan is our common neighbour, the security not only in that country, but also in the whole region depends from the situation in the country,” Lavrov noted.

“We support Afghanistan’s request for an observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” the minister added.
