The monument to the famous painter and philosopher was created by the well known artist and movie art director Mr.Radhakrihnan.


The solemn ceremony was attended by a group of guests from Russia’s Ulyanovsk, who laid flowers to the monument.


In 2004, the Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram Council named the road adjacent to the Russian Cultural Centre after Svyatoslav Roerich. This appears to be the only road in the capital of Kerala state which is named after a foreigner.


An opening ceremony following the renaming of the road was held by Prime Minister of India Mr.I.K.Gujaral and attended by then Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Prof.Chandra, Head of the Cultural Department of the Russian Embassy Mr.Fyodr Rozovsky, among others.
