Navy Day is celebrated in Russia on July 29. Festivities and naval parades were held at the main bases of the Northern, Pacific and Black Sea Fleets and Caspian Flotilla.

Viktor Chirkov, vice-admiral and the commander of the Baltic Fleet, reviewed the naval parade in Murmansk Region’s Severomorsk, the Northern Fleet’s main base. The swift surfacing of the St. Daniel of Moscow nuclear submarine in front of the people, who gathered to celebrate the event, was the day’s culmination.

At the beginning of the parade, Russian Black Sea Commander and Rear Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov and Ukrainian Navy Commander and Vice Admiral Yuriy Ilyin reviewed the formation of the two countries’ ships in Sevastopol Bay together on one boat and saluted the sailors.
